Lace's house was originally rather crudely built by Belt, who decided the deep clearing in this forboding forest was a good place to hide his outcast sister. Over time, the two have improved the house; they've expanded it and added a waterwheel to the side to provide electricity and power. Lace has given the room next to hers to Belt, who visits often. It's the largest room in the house, which shows how much Lace values Belt.
